As for how often they sign these contracts, that is... Generally, contracts are signed for one year at a time. The reason is simple: very few actresses in this industry want to work long-term, and for some, a one-year contract is too long…
This also makes it easy for actresses to switch agencies; they can simply not renew their contracts when they expire. Therefore, small agencies need to not only find the best actresses but also take good care of them. If they can't appeal to their emotions, they can easily be poached by larger agencies with money. Of course, some actresses in this industry can't wait for their contracts to expire and want to switch agencies. Their most common tactic is to resign from their agencies citing "serious illness" or "lack of fighting spirit," and then, after completing the resignation procedures, they change their names and become new employees of another agency.
This is why AV actresses switch agencies so frequently. Good actresses are hard to find, and the safest investment is to poach actresses who are already well-established. Of course, some actresses leave because their agencies are corrupt, the bosses are unfaithful, or they don't get along with their managers. As for why I suddenly wrote this article, besides the fact that this is a question some people have, the most important reason is that the Adult Expo is coming in four months. I hope that last year's situation, where Amami changed agencies and then reneged on her original attendance agreement, won't happen again.
