Ken Shimizu, the 39-year-old Japanese "AV King" who claims to have slept with over 10,000 men and appeared in over 8,500 AV films in his 20-year career, recently published a book in which he soberly reveals that being an AV actor isn't as lucrative as people imagine. Shimizu states in the book that although male actors have just as much work as female actors and occupy a significant portion of the screen, they are best kept out of the camera and often have to maintain certain sexual positions. Therefore, the most common pain point for male actors isn't their lower back, but their neck.

In addition, male AV actors are frequently complained about, and the reasons are often absurd, such as "the amount of ejaculation is too low, which is abnormal," "there are poses on the cover that are not in the film," and the most common complaint is "the male actor is blocking the female actor's body." This causes many new male actors to become exhausted after only a couple of films and disappear from the adult film industry.
