AV actors and actresses aren't as easy to get as I imagined! Tony Oki: What hurt me the most was…

Having watched this far, have you ever fantasized about becoming an AV actor, picking and choosing actresses on set?

This seems to be the dream of many men, but Tony Oki, an AV actor with 25 years in the industry, says: "Any male actor who can last more than two years in this industry is a god!"

Why? To be honest, when I heard him say that, I thought this guy was really arrogant. Was he trying to say that being able to go through so much is amazing? But after hearing his reasons, I couldn't help but bow down in admiration. Seriously, I was absolutely blown away!

"There are many beautiful girls in this industry, but their personalities aren't exactly endearing..." Tony Oki said. 25 years ago, through a friend of his father's, he went to work in an AV studio, and eventually became an adult film actor: "Back then, I was young and ambitious, and I thought it was great to have work and money, so I kept doing it. But I quickly experienced the cruelty of this industry. Being an AV actor is truly a job that drains your body and soul..."

Why? As mentioned in the previous paragraph, many AV actresses don't have endearing personalities. Tony Oki recalled that a few years ago in the AV industry, actresses only found out who their male co-star would be when they arrived on set. Similarly, male actors didn't know what kind of actress they'd be meeting. Once, he rushed to the set, only to be berated by the actress who later became a superstar: "What? It's Tony today? You look disgusting! I'm so unlucky!"

Being talked about like that... Of course, he was very uncomfortable, but Tony Takagi still smiled and apologized to the then-newcomer: "Sorry! It's just me today, please bear with me~"

And then? Did he then beat up this arrogant woman during the performance? No, the script wasn't written that way, so Tony Takagi could only convince himself to love the unlovable girl in front of him and get on set to do his job well:

"So, being an AV actor is a profession where you have to deceive yourself..." Tony Takagi said, "Most new actors are very excited because sex is really a great thing, but they quickly discover that some of their co-stars have such terrible personalities that they can't get an erection at all. But what can they do? They still have to grit their teeth and do it. Later, many actors either have a forced smile or facial paralysis, and they have almost no fantasies about women. It's a professional hazard!"

Then a bunch of people leave with disappointment, which is why he says that the actors who can survive in this industry are gods. So, what about now?

Tony Oki says he shoots about 10 films a month, which means he has sex about once every three days. When asked if it's due to burnout or age-related decline in stamina, this guy said, "I treat filming as exercise. Now I know who I'm working with beforehand, so I can roughly gauge the actress's personality. But firstly, I recently moved, and the film set is far from my home, making transportation inconvenient. Secondly, I have a lot of other work to do (giving sex lectures, singing in Taiwan), which is quite physically demanding. Most importantly, after each film, I feel completely drained, both physically and mentally. So now I try to control the amount of filming I do, giving younger actors more opportunities to hone their skills!"

After reading this interview, would you still want to be an AV actor?
