It's one person, two roles!
kawaii* is amazing. In the VR film "Partner Body Ito Mayuki ga Meno-mae ni Two People!? Front, Back, Left, Right Mayuki ni Completely Enveloped Harem," Ito Mayuki co-stars with herself. Although actresses like Ohashi Miku and Hishi Aino have previously played this kind of one-person-multiple-role trick, seeing such a project in a VR film is still a pleasant surprise.
It's just... a little strange.
What's strange? This is clearly a groundbreaking VR film, showcasing the maturity of modern compositing technology and allowing us to enjoy the thrill of being surrounded by "Ito Mayuki and her ilk" in a 3D environment. However, what's odd is that this work is so amazing, why do we only see a cover image? And why is the preview video entirely composed of two Ito Mayuki characters conversing?
There's definitely something wrong!
Once you buy the film, you'll understand why the studio did this. Yes, being surrounded by Ito Mayuki is quite nice; listening to them chatter about random things is really exciting. But once the action starts, it's a different story. The two only exchange a few gestures at the beginning, and then it's back to one person performing:
No wonder kawaii* only gave us one cover image; releasing all the stills might reduce sales by half. As for the fans who took the bait? The ratings speak for themselves. While some fans hailed it as a "masterpiece" and expressed their hope for a sequel, others gave it only one star (out of five, zero stars is unacceptable), stating that the work was merely a gimmick and would quickly become just another ordinary VR experience. One fan even angrily shouted, "Give me my money back!"
It's still S1's "＜Front, Right Ear, Left Ear＞3 Directions Simultaneously ni Brain Tortoro Lewd Talk sasayaki" "Aoi Tsukasa x 3!? A new sensual harem ASMR-specialized VR" is better.
