First, it's important to understand that the Japanese have a very closed-minded mentality. Even agents familiar with Taiwan are unaware of the development of Chinese-language platforms. Asking them, they'd think some company was planning to broadcast legally licensed Japanese adult films. After I explained, they realized that several self-produced adult film platforms had emerged in the Chinese-speaking world, producing a considerable amount of content, generating profits, and gaining considerable popularity. They were quite surprised.
Then I lent them my account so the president of this agency could watch the films and get his opinion:
"Huh? Why is the male actor's face blurred?" This is a Japanese agent's comment on Taiwanese-made erotic films. My first question is something I'd like to briefly explain: Compared to Japanese actresses, some Taiwanese actresses haven't quite accepted the concept of working with different male actors. Therefore, they have to spray or blur their co-stars' faces because they only want to work with the same type of person. As for the actresses' performances, filming style, and the pacing of the film, he didn't have much of an opinion. Moreover, the president felt that some Chinese actresses were quite attractive and, with some packaging, could have opportunities to develop in Japan. My only advice is, "Please censor the male actor's small head, not his large head"—if the platform operators intend to expand into the Japanese market.
Frankly, I find it rather pointless that Japanese agents are so fixated on uncensored content. Since Chinese platforms aren't under Japanese jurisdiction, there's no need to follow their rules. However, their observation of Chinese platforms reveals that the Japanese uncensored industry is in serious trouble. Seeing big names like Ohashi Miku and Maeda Kaori (前田香织) return to the scene like they used to is virtually impossible, because the door has been closed by their agencies.
