"Excuse me, does XXX have a boyfriend?"
I usually don't ask actresses this question. I've been blogging for over 10 years, so I roughly know what questions I can and can't ask. Some actresses feel it's an invasion of their privacy. But I can tell you for sure that quite a few actresses have boyfriends, and they haven't hidden their AV actress status from their partners!
What, you're asking me how I'm sure?
Yes, I wouldn't ask the actresses directly, but some will say it themselves. For example, Hazuki Nozomi proactively said she'd already decided her boyfriend was her soulmate and planned to have a baby with him; another S-class actress explicitly stated during work discussions that "my boyfriend doesn't like me doing this," hoping to replace it with other forms of interaction; and... Some actresses can't hide their joy; for example, they might be on the phone during breaks, and you can tell who they're talking to just by hearing keywords like "I miss you." Others, their managers might accidentally let it slip. Like once, when an actress overslept and didn't show up for an event on time, her manager impatiently said, "She must have been talking to her boyfriend too late last night..."
Actually, it's very normal for actresses to have boyfriends. Most people feel lonely when they're single, especially those top-tier actresses who have plenty of free time. Plus, they're often more beautiful than flowers, so it's not surprising that someone might pursue them, and if they like each other, they might fall for them. What? You're saying these guys don't mind their girlfriends being ridden by Yoshimura Taku? There are always people online saying they want to marry actresses. There are people in Taiwan who understand actresses' work, so naturally there are in Japan too.
But is it good or bad for actresses to have boyfriends?
Agencies are generally unhappy with this situation because actresses are easily affected by their boyfriends' work. For example, they might argue with their boyfriends and then not want to film, or they might be restricted by their boyfriends and miss out on earning opportunities. Therefore, the top actresses in agencies (or you could call them cash cows) are almost always overseen by the agency president himself: For example, Kana Momono's bald manager practically follows the actress wherever she goes, and Moe Tenshi's president accompanies her on her nationwide tours, even when her back injury flares up.
The most outrageous case is Akiho Yoshizawa; when she came to Taiwan, her female manager simply shared a room with her at night. Perhaps it's because of this close supervision that she's been able to stay in the industry for over 15 years. Even so, some actresses still experience drastic personality changes after getting boyfriends, leading to strained relationships with their agencies:

A certain actress, very popular in Japan and Taiwan, is a cause for concern: First, her boyfriend filters all her jobs, rejecting any he deems unpromising; second, he's picky about even the agency's managers, refusing anyone too handsome or too unattractive; third, this boyfriend, who works as a male escort, even demands her debit card PIN, completely controlling her finances…
Do you think this actress is foolish? Actually, everyone around her is worried about her, but it's useless; they can only hope she isn't exploited and then discarded.
