Recently, I worked with several actresses, and naturally, I asked their managers this question. Their answers were similar: they all said the new law was implemented too hastily, catching the industry off guard, but "after being bombarded with this for the past few months, we've all gotten used to it."
So, how are the actresses doing?
The agency's explanation is that some people have definitely been affected. It's basically the same as what I said before: since most second- and third-tier production companies are still observing the situation, and some have even chosen to suspend releases, those project actresses who specialize in large-scale productions or help out with compilation episodes have been having a tough time lately. Exclusive actresses are doing better; their contracts are just being changed and re-signed, so their lives shouldn't change too much.
It's pitiful not to have any films to shoot, but having too many films all at once also makes actresses complain!
The other day, C-More's agent asked me which of their actresses is currently the most popular overseas? I said that the one who would cause a stir right now is "Konan Koyo," and "Hana Nono" is also good; if she came to Taiwan, many people would want to see her. But her manager laughed and said, "Hana Nono? Her hand has been hurting lately; let her rest for a while..."
Why? Because she has so many projects to shoot, contracts are pouring in like snowflakes. She has to sign every single one, and since filming can only begin a month after signing, each production company wants her to sign quickly and send the contracts back to confirm the filming schedule. So, her manager arranged for her to come to the agency one afternoon to sign them all at once. As a result, Kohana Non (Kohana Warm) kept shaking her hand while signing, jokingly saying she must have tendonitis.
Actresses from various agencies often experience this situation, so you've probably seen some actresses complaining on Twitter recently about signing too many contracts at once. However, it's a sweet burden, because signing means having work. But from Inamori Miyu saying she signed contracts for 12 projects in one go, you know there will definitely be a filming backlog coming up—which also means that releases in the next few months will be irregular. Please be prepared.
