Do you want to be an AV actor?
Since I started blogging in 2008, I've received a message about how to become an AV actor roughly every two weeks. The only difference is that in the past, everyone wanted to work in Japan, but now they directly ask if SWAG is hiring—we'll discuss Taiwan in another post. Today, we'll talk about a phenomenon in Japan: "trainee actors":
You might find it strange that besides top actors like Shimizu Ken, Morihara Genjin, and Sadamatsu Daisuke, and the "juice actors" who can't be touched but can only ejaculate randomly, there are also trainee actors on set?
No doubt about it, it's true. However, the term "apprentice" means observing and learning from experienced actors on-site; it implies they can only watch, not do it themselves. But anyone who's been to a film studio knows that it's not open to the public. To be an apprentice, you have to do something, so we usually call them—
"AD (Assistant Director)."
Yes, many people become ADs (Assistant Directors) in the AV industry. Some want to learn how to be directors, some are assistants to directors, and others learn to be competent AV actors while doing odd jobs. Some might find it strange—why not just learn to be a male AV actor? Does being an AD earn more? Yes, that's right. ADs (Assistant Directors) certainly earn more than male AV actors who only receive transportation allowances or meager nutrition allowances. But how painful is it for someone who wants to be an actor to only watch actresses do odd jobs without being able to have sex or masturbate? There's definitely a reason why they can only be trainees:
The answer is because they can't even be good at being male porn actors: When reading biographies of male porn actors, you'll find that many of them started as on-set staff. That's right, because the problems faced by male porn actors are no less than those faced by female porn actors, directors who don't have enough available staff often push on-set staff directly to the front lines. But now, in 2022, many aspiring male porn actors who can't get an erection in front of the camera can only familiarize themselves with the filming atmosphere by doing odd jobs on set. Once they're no longer afraid and can get an erection in front of the camera, they can start as male porn actors...
This is what's called a trainee male porn actor. And because there's a real shortage of male porn actors, production companies usually require them to undergo STD screening. If there's a problem and they really can't find any male porn actors, they'll use them—what? You say they can't get an erection? That's right. It depends on how far they've progressed in their training. If they can get an erection, that's great, but if not, there's always that awful censorship—it covers up as much as possible.
However, after the new AV law, these trainee male actors who work as assistant directors (ADs) really can only train, because they can't actually perform without a contract!
