Although she recently said on a live stream that she would only consider retiring after working for two full years, "Natural Beauty" suddenly announced that she has something big to announce today (December 1st). Is it good news or bad news?

I'm a little uneasy. It's always a big announcement, and you know Mikami Yua can't retire—and sure enough, her big announcement is the release of her tenth photobook, a limited edition of 2000 copies, no nudity, and she'll be showing everyone in various idol looks; but what about Mitsuki Nakamoto? Besides filming, she doesn't seem to have any other interests or talents, and with that smudged face in the photos, I'm genuinely worried she'll say she's quitting today…

What if she really does quit?

There's not much we can do. As AV actor and manga artist Uno previously stated, there are approximately 8,000 to 10,000 actresses in the AV industry, and half of them are replaced each year, meaning 4,000 to 5,000 actresses are replaced by new blood. If Mizuki Nakahara unfortunately retires, all we can do is thank her for her contributions and find the next fresh body to get us hard. What else can we do?

However, after writing about all this gossip these past few days, I believe everyone has accumulated many questions, so let me answer them in this post: First, are there really that many actresses in the AV industry?

Let me show you some data: First, there are roughly 150 agencies in the AV industry. If you could access their databases, you'd know the number of actresses they manage is far greater than you can imagine. For example, T-Powers claims to have 300 actresses, while Dino, Cruse, and Mine's each have over 100. Adding that together, I think 5000 is easily achievable. If you include actresses who are signed but not yet listed, the number might actually reach 8000. Next, the second question: since there are so many AV actresses, why doesn't it seem like such a massive number? Where have they all gone?

The answer is that many don't even have the opportunity to film!

This was also said by Miyuki Nakamoto on a live stream. She said that in the past, anyone willing to take their clothes off had a chance, but now the industry is selective: because of the economic downturn, more and more people want to become AV actresses, but with a saturated market, many can't even get past the agencies—how ruthless are the agencies? According to the author, out of 50 newcomers who audition, fewer than 10 will make it to the final round and sign with an agency. These 10 might be beautiful, have a hot body, or the agency might be drawn to their talent in bed or believe they can still be improved after plastic surgery. However, after training, only 1-2 of these will actually be sent to production companies for auditions and releases…

This means that newcomers who can release their debut films with the production companies we know are already among the top 10% in the industry. If they can get an exclusive contract, they are one in a hundred—the truly exceptional. But debuting is just the beginning of the challenge. Because there are far more applicants than available offers, many actresses wait for offers to come to them. So, if two or three films don't sell well, you lose the trust of the production companies and fall into the tragic state of being forgotten by the whole world…

Back then, you could only watch as actresses whose works sold well kept getting offers, even compilation studios chose them—and then soon you'd hear either about their health problems or their failures, becoming unemployed and resentful like yourself… Honestly, although everyone was mentally prepared for the cruelty of this industry, you really don't know how tough it is until you hear actresses say it. So, Natural Mizuki's final conclusion is, "Please buy the official versions," because only if studios make money will they continue to offer actresses roles; otherwise, given the current economic downturn, actresses will be dying one after another.
