As a leading AV powerhouse, Japan has never lacked actresses, but rather eye-catching newcomers. Despite the immense effort invested, only a few achieve true stardom. According to a survey by a Japanese online media outlet, the number of Japanese girls who have worked as AV actresses has now exceeded 100,000, a piece of news that sparked heated discussions at the time.

The weekly magazine "Weekly Gendai Online" pointed out that Japanese AV actresses are indicative of a global phenomenon for men. They estimated that there are currently over 30 million women aged 19 to 55 in Japan. Based on their survey results, this equates to one in every 200 Japanese women having participated in AV productions.
This calculation assumes that 150,000 of them have worked as AV actresses, but the true number is uncertain. After all, if calculated annually, thousands of actresses debut each year, but statistics from production companies suggest otherwise.

AV expert Yijian Wanchunqiu once pointed out that if we consider the data of 400 AV actresses debuting each year, even if the country's AV industry has developed for more than 30 years, it is impossible for the number to exceed 100,000. This number is simply too exaggerated, not to mention the claim that one in every 200 Japanese women participates in AV performances.
