Something big has happened!
What big thing? If you regularly buy adult films from FANZA (which is DMM), you've probably seen this announcement: at the end of March, all the adult film distributors under the Prestige system withdrew from FANZA, and their works are no longer sold to them?
Why? This is similar to stores leaving department stores, which generally boils down to two reasons: one, the store is too bad and things aren't selling, so of course they have to escape quickly; two, the rent is too high, so even if the products sell, it's like working for free or even losing money, so naturally there's no reason to stay?
So why is Prestige withdrawing from FANZA?
The smart ones should already know the reason. The market has changed a lot in the last year or two. Those who are interested in researching should find this very exciting—frankly speaking, I don't need to elaborate on FANZA's influence. Whether you want to buy physical copies or download videos, it's the most convenient place. Over the years, it has almost cultivated a habit of everyone shopping there. So, seeing that the two parties have terminated their cooperation, I believe many people were quite shocked.
There are many stories to tell about this, which I can share with you. What's interesting is that this change wasn't a sudden attack by either FANZA or Prestige to terminate the cooperation. To put it simply, the seeds of this event were sown as early as the establishment of the U-Next platform and the production company Faleno. Back then, I joked with some friends that the production companies participating in the U-Next platform were essentially an anti-FANZA alliance. Who would have thought that some production companies would actually choose to withdraw from FANZA and stop participating?
So what will be the next effect? First, quite a few studios participated in the U-Next platform (almost all studios outside the WILL Group went). After Prestige fired the first shot, we can see if any other studios will follow suit and withdraw from FANZA (yes, don't assume everyone likes FANZA); second, Prestige's decision not to sell also means that their exclusive actresses will no longer appear on FANZA's sales charts, including Airi Suzumura, Asuna Kawai, and... Ryoumori Remu will not appear on FANZA's daily, weekly, or monthly charts after April. Please don't ask me why they're not on the charts then; it's not that no one loves them, it's that their production company has withdrawn from the game.
