That's a good idea. Recently, with the rise of various platforms, more than one Taiwanese actress has contacted me expressing a desire to film in Japan, specifically requesting works with searchable catalog numbers. I initially thought it would be difficult, but if media outlets could sell their works directly on FANZA, all problems would be solved, right?
But, is it feasible?
The emergence of Tokyo Toy's works has led many to hope that Chinese platforms will enter the Japanese FANZA market.
However, it's not as easy as everyone thinks. The Japanese AV industry can be roughly divided into three parts: one is the so-called "Production," which are agencies responsible for supplying actresses; the other two are "general incorporated associations"... The Japan Video Production and Distribution Ethics Organization (IPPA) and the Japan Professional Video Association (JPA) are separate bodies. IPPA oversees the production and distribution of content, while IPPA manages copyright. As previously mentioned, to become a legitimate AV (uncensored) industry member, IPPA certification is required. They provide an identifiable number, which is essential for operations. Otherwise, no matter how high the price, agencies won't dare send actresses.
So, the question is, is it possible for Chinese platforms to obtain IPPA certification? I think it's very difficult. The filming model of Chinese platforms is exactly what they fear most: "uncensored overseas content." They're not registered with a Japanese production company and don't use censorship (to be precise, the censorship is only on the male actors' heads), which is a major taboo. They can't be registered with them.
So, the only option is to buy a production company's license?
On the internet, I've seen more than one person claiming they're bosses in the AV industry. Some say they've bought production companies, others say they have their own talent agencies. However, based on the information I've received, after a certain Chinese platform held an adult awards ceremony, the Japanese have noticed the rise of Chinese platforms and are aware of their interest in their actresses and investments in Japan. They've held several meetings to discuss this, and so far, they don't intend to accept overseas production companies. Some even advocate for thoroughly investigating the backgrounds of various production companies to prevent anyone from infiltrating…
This is quite normal. Japan is relatively closed off. I think Chinese-language platforms don't need to rush to join their trend; it's more important to first raise their production quality to their level.
