People often ask, "Which actress is the most popular?"
This seems like an easy question, but it's actually quite complex: In terms of sales, the past six months have been dominated by Ayaka Kawakita and Shoko Takahashi (Takahashi Seiko), but in terms of popularity, Kana Momonogi and Arina Hashimoto are top-tier actresses whose meet-and-greets are incredibly difficult to get tickets for. However, in terms of Twitter followers, Kirara Asuka, who has clearly stated she's "not filming," is the undisputed leader… So, simply put, I think this seemingly simple question is very difficult to answer, really.
So what should we do? Let's examine this scientifically!
FANZA (formerly DMM), Japan's largest AV sales website, recently released a data survey. As a website operator, many of the figures in it particularly interested me, so I'll explain them to everyone in two parts, point by point. Please feel free to ask any questions or offer criticism:
1. In the past year, FANZA received over 350 million visits, exceeding the total population of the United States.
2. The website's page views (PV) reached 1.6 billion this year. Some might not understand this, but simply put, it means that when people click on your website, they view multiple pages. Each page counts once, adding up to 1.6 billion. On average, the daily PV exceeds 4.61 million, more than the crowds at Shinjuku Station.
3. Currently, FANZA has sold a total of 26,961 different works, totaling 69,028 hours. It would take 8 years to watch them all. All of this demonstrates the scale of FANZA. It's truly enormous, and it's no wonder that even disgruntled film studios have to obediently join their alliance despite their dissatisfaction with the revenue-sharing arrangement…
4. Fans conduct a staggering 330 million searches annually on FANZA, averaging 10 searches per second (just how much do people search?).
5. The male-to-female ratio of movie fans on FANZA is 7:3, which surprised me quite a bit. Although I knew it wouldn't be like our site where the ratio is 95:5, there are clearly more women searching for movies on FANZA than I expected.
6. This is the age statistics for users. It can be seen that 25-44 years old is the main demographic, accounting for about 60%.
7. These are the search keywords. "mature woman" takes first place, followed by "large breasts," "pervert," "married woman," and "cumshot." After seeing this report, you should understand why there are more and more mature women now, and why every production company is making films featuring married women. The numbers really speak for themselves.
8. This is a further analysis of the search data to see what keywords men and women like to search for: The results show that men most frequently search for "mature woman," "large breasts," and "married woman," while women search for "kunni (referring to male-to-female oral sex foreplay)," "chikan" (wow, so Japanese women like watching actresses being violated), and "lesbian" (lesbian; now you know why Shiina Sora is so incredibly popular).
9. This is a statistical analysis of search keywords by age group. It shows that the 18-24 age group has low interest in mature women; they prefer "perverts" and "large breasts." However, after age 25, the preference for "mature women" increases rapidly. Another... An interesting statistic is that Japanese moviegoers aged 35-64 are also very interested in new-life (ladyboy/girl) actresses, which explains why so many actresses with an extra penis release films…
10. Finally, and most importantly, who is the most searched actress? The answer is Asuka Kirara!
Next up are Mana Sakura, Yua Mikami, and Shoko Takahashi, with Airi Suzumura in 5th place. Basically, all the big names are here. I personally find two names on the list quite interesting. One is Ai Yoshikawa, who has been almost invisible lately. Although her manager told me she's very busy, shooting over ten films a month, many people are still asking if she's retired. It seems not only the Chinese-speaking community but also many Japanese fans are wondering where she is. The other is Ai Uehara. How long has she been retired? The fact that she's still on the list shows she's not a retired production machine; her influence on the industry is probably far greater than imagined.
